GRCon21 In-Person Announcement

We are excited to announce GNU Radio Conference 2021 will be running as an in-person event in Charlotte, NC alongside our virtual component. Taking into account the current status of COVID-19 in the US and our survey results, we have determined that we can safely hold an in-person event. The in-person attendance will be reduced; however, all GRCons going forward will continue to have a virtual component including live streaming and virtual workshops. In addition, this year we will also welcome virtual pre-recorded talks with live Q&A (similar to GRCon20) for those who can’t travel, or who prefer not to.

GNU Radio Conference 2021

When: September 20 – 24, 2021

Where: Charlotte, NC + Virtual

Time: 9am – 5pm EDT (UTC -4:00)

In order to provide a safe environment for all who are attending, we are committed to following all of the CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines. These guidelines are likely to change, but will likely include steps such as proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test, and adherence to capacity limits, masking, and proper social distancing. Because of reduction in capacity, we recommend purchasing your ticket as soon as possible as the event is likely to sell out.

We are hoping as many people as possible will be able to attend in person. The benefits are meeting and chatting with other attendees, asking more detailed questions after a presentation is over, attending the social event, and many others. We do acknowledge that some may not be able to attend in person due to travel restrictions, work restraints, and other factors.

We are making a particular request this year for those in-person attendees who are able to book their accommodation through our hotel room block. GNU Radio must pay for any unbooked rooms in the block and this represents a large amount of our potential event costs, and our largest financial risk this year.

Info on Charlotte and the Hotel venue is available here.  We will continue to update this page with travel and other information.
