GNU Radio World is an educational web-based GNU Radio 3 that includes many OOTs, example flowgraphs, IQ recordings, all without having to install a thing. It contains several new features that might be worth including in GR4. During this breakout session we will run through what GNU Radio World can do, and then dive into some discussion related to features we could add to GR4 and what that might look like, using GNU Radio World as a sandbox for experimenting with new features and UX ideas.
Example features currently live on GNU Radio World that might be worth looking at for GR4
- Instead of the old QT GUI Hint system, GNU Radio World's QT GUI window uses a graphical arrangement tool that can be adjusted during the live run, or in the canvas using a new block that shows a miniature of the GUI
- File Source blocks have a GUI, a progress bar that shows how far through the file you are, and when it repeats
- Easy ways to share flowgraphs with folks
- Ability to browse blocks/OOTs and run example flowgraphs that exercise the functionality, often using an example IQ recordings
- SigMF support, including automatic type conversion and automatic addition of ishort-to-complex block already connected
- GRC auto-arrange of blocks, visually
- Interactive "challenges" to introduce new people to GR
