Description

In this talk we will present new hardware developments for the software-defined radio (SDR) space from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), with a focus on modules and system-level synchronization solutions. We will introduce a new line of VPX modules from the ADI Aerospace and Defense group, designed around the AD9084 Apollo Direct-RF mixed signal front-end. VPX is a popular form factor in the SDR market and is used in many applications, including radar, electronic warfare, and communications. The presentation will provide a brief introduction to VPX, some of the surrounding standards, and a deep dive on the first COTS VPX digitizer platform from ADI ADSY1100.

The second part of the talk will focus on system-level synchronization solutions for multi-channel and multi-chip systems. Modern phased-array systems require tight synchronization to enabled beamforming and other advanced signal processing techniques implemented in such frameworks as GNU Radio. We will present a new synchronization solution enabled through the latest generation of ADI converters and clocking devices. Addressing existing performance and practical scalability challenges.

By the end of this talk, attendees will have a better understanding of available modules from ADI with connectivity to GNU Radio, and how modern hardware developments solve historical application level challenges.
